“A true brand must be interesting, relevant, and obvious. Your brand must matter to its audience and show up consistently to reinforce yourself. Otherwise, you’re just a commodity with a trademark.”

Farnam: Everything for the Ride
Building a Brand Out of a Trademark Portfolio
THE CHALLENGE
Farnam looked like a brand, but it wasn’t one; it was a collection of individually trademarked products that happened to share a name. Inconsistent packaging, no shared design system, and no single voice for a customer standing at the shelf. In a crowded marketplace, Farnam needed a unified story.
ANNA’S SOLUTION
Anna and team ran a growth workshop to identify what the business really needed—and it wasn’t a new tagline. It was a master brand: consistency across every SKU, portfolio architecture, and a 5-year innovation people built on a real foundation that understood that the value of the Farnam brand was to expand awareness across all the categories in which it plays.
THE WORK
“Everything for the Ride” was born. The award-winning campaign gave the brand a voice, and was followed by a packaging overhaul that’s landed with consumer and outperforming every goal (including delivering record profits).
Barefoot: From Wine Brand to Beverage Brand
Repositioning the World’s Largest Wine Brand
THE CHALLENGE
Barefoot was beloved and enormous. But that scale was a trap. The brand’s innovations struggled to find traction, and beyond the next varietal, there was no real pipeline for growth.
ANNA’S SOLUTION
An internal audit and brainstorming sessions identified the real constraint: not the products, but the category. The strategic call was to position Barefoot as an adult beverage brand instead, while holding on to the equity that worked. New occasions, new formats, new fans.
THE WORK
This single strategic shift unlocked three major launches: wine spritzers, the launch of Fruitscato, and boxed wine. All three became genuine growth drivers, pulling new consumers both into the brand and the category. It also opened the door to collaborations that wouldn’t have flown under the old strategy: with Oreo, with Times Square New Year’s Even, and ultimately as the Official Wine of the NFL.
Airwaves Gum: Finding the Real Consumer
Giving Wrigley’s Capped Gum Brand a New Story
THE CHALLENGE
Airwaves had a clear original thesis: powerful menthol-eucalyptus gum as an alternative to cough drops, designed to raise the average age of gum-chewers. It worked, but the target hard a hard ceiling—and cough drops still owned the sore throat occasion outright.
ANNA’S SOLUTION
The answer was found in a focus group: a handful of teenage boys who were adamant loyalists. After digging into their insights, the team realized this new target was chewing the gum because the intense flavor “woke them up”—it was an energy drink in a stick of gum.
THE WORK
Airwaves abandoned the cough drop-adjacent messaging entirely, repositioning around an X Games-style, energy drink territory with teen boys as the new target. The results were staggering across the UK, Europe, and an eventual US launch.
